Reimagining the way we live header graphic
We're reimagining the way we live. Developed by the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», Nudge Community Builders and The Box, this collaboration explores how communities, researchers, creative practitioners and policymakers can work together to shape more liveable, inclusive and resilient places. It is coordinated through the Centre for Place: an interdisciplinary research hub that tackles contemporary societal and global challenges through place-based inquiry.
We think big questions need big thinking, different perspectives and bold ideas. Running across 2026–2027, the space and programme will be used to explore how we live now – and how we might live better in the future.
Grounded in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», the programme connects local experience with national and international conversations about the future of cities and communities.

Big questions need big thinking

Systems, communities and institutions

How can we better integrate the role of place for local systems, community organisations and institutions, and how can policy mechanisms affect these?

Housing, neighbourhoods and thriving places

How can we design and build better places for people to live and thrive through innovation in housing and neighbourhoods?

Health, nature and place

How can we better measure and evidence the links between health, nature and place?

Community empowerment and participation

What are the methods for community empowerment and urban planning for place-based change that better involve marginalised groups?

Creative futures

How can we creatively reimagine the way we live?

Technology, data and lived experience

How can digital technology, including AI, help us better understand lived experience of place and support place-based communities?
