About Laura
Current research fellow working on the Leverhulme Trust funded project: Peatscapes on the edge: ecological resilience to fire in the Anthropocene.
This project is a three-year research initiative led by the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³». It aims to understand how UK peatlands, critical natural defences against climate change, respond to and recover from wildfires.
The primary aim of the project is to determine how UK peatlands with different vegetation, fire histories, and land-use legacies vary in their ecological resilience, recovery dynamics, and vulnerability to changing climate trends and fire activity.

Teaching
I have previously supported teaching in two key areas at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»:
(i) palaeoecology, environmental change and archaeology; and
(ii) development of big data and multivariate data analysis skills.
I also provide instrument and technical teaching/support for vibrational spectroscopy at undergraduate and postgraduate level, from acquiring and interpreting FT-IR spectra through to identifying where and how a method such as FT-IR can be applied to the student's own research.Ìý
